Tips for better social media images
Use the right aspect ratio
Platforms crop images that don't match their expected ratio. Using the correct size stops awkward cropping and keeps your content looking professional.
Prefer JPG or WebP for photos
JPG offers the best quality-to-size ratio for photos. WebP is even smaller but some older tools don't support it. PNG is best reserved for logos and graphics.
Keep file sizes reasonable
Social platforms re-compress uploads, which can hurt quality. Starting with a well-compressed image (80–85% quality) gives the platform less work to do.
High DPI for retina screens
Export at 2× the display size (e.g. 2160×2160 for an Instagram post displayed at 1080) for crisp rendering on high-DPI phones and monitors.
